about me
As a mechanical engineer, I’ve always been fascinated by the precise nature of the LEGO brick building system. Each element has been carefully designed to allow it to connect to others in a variety of ways, giving us endless opportunities to explore our creativity. You will find that I am obsessed with the mathematics and geometry of the LEGO system.
My journey began in 1986, at the age of 7, when ‘Santa Claus’ gave me the Shell Service Station (6378). I got another dozen or so sets over the next few years and spent much of my childhood building all sorts of strange contraptions. By the early 90’s I stopped getting LEGO as gifts, although I hadn’t really outgrown them in my mind!
Fast forward to the year 2000 when I bought myself the Super Street Sensation (8448) and a whole new obsession with LEGO Technic was born. My obsession sat mostly dormant until 2019 when I simply had to own Voltron (21311). From there, I quickly added the Rough Terrain Crane (42082), the Colosseum (10276), and the Liebherr Excavator (42100).
After finally moving into a home with enough space to handle my LEGO addiction in 2021, my collection really exploded. As of September 2023, I have 118 sets and just over 200,000 parts!
In 2023 a new chapter began and I started building my own designs. My first large-scale project is a 100-baseplate (10 x 10) city complete with a fully detailed subway system. I expect this project to take several years to complete as I will need to acquire a lot more parts and each building will be my own design. I share updates regularly on Instagram and Facebook, so please follow me there!
